Running 26 miles for Art in Healthcare

Welcome to my GoFundMe fundraising page.
On 29th May (two weeks!) I will be running 26 miles for Art in Healthcare.
Their work brings art and art workshops to hospital settings, making clinical settings more human and inspiring, and introducing form and inspiration to places that are otherwise often drab, intimidating and clinical.
Art in Healthcare provide art workshops facilitated by Edinburgh based artists, and describe the relevance of their work as follows:
"Art has a positive impact on health and wellbeing, both during times of health and in illness. To prevent ill health, engaging with art can advance personal development from building social interaction to improving self-esteem. Physical and mental wellbeing are interconnected and during illness art can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Art can be used as an intervention to support treatment or provide an alternative to treatment for ill health. Art can distract from pain and anxiety to empower, offer respite and maintain a sense of dignity to stimulate holistic healing. As a charitable organisation we depend on the generosity of artists, sponsors, donors and volunteers to deliver our services. There are many ways you can help Art in Healthcare to make a positive difference to the healthcare environment experienced by millions of people each year throughout Scotland."

Running and art continue to be two of my greatest pillars of wellbeing.
The training for this marathon has been exhausting, demoralising and at times painful. I've often wanted to give up. Psychologically, it has been a real challenge. My wife has kindly and consistently kept me going. I'm determined to finish the goal I've set.
