Run for Julia

Camp is a special place. You arrive at camp, not knowing a soul; you leave camp apart of a family. It is truly what happens with camp. You may not have even talked to some people for more than just a short conversation over a two-month span, but at camp it doesn't matter, you still think of that person as a brother or sister in Christ. The true family community lives on past the warm summer months; you keep in contact with your camp family as you do your related family, and you love your camp family as you would your related family.
It's been almost three months since our dear camp friend Julia Tarter passed away from a tragic car accident. We miss her very much but know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is dancing with Jesus as we plan this fundraiser. A few weeks ago a few of us who worked alongside of Julia came together seeking to run a 1/2 marathon to prepare physically for our upcoming 2014 summer, shortly after that we decided to run to honor Julia.
We will be running the Connect Half Marathon in Athens, GA on April 5, 2014 to honor the life and joyful legacy of Julia and to raise money for a scholarship fund that Winshape Camps started in Julia's name for our campers. We seek to raise enough money to support two campers with this scholarship.
Today, we run: run for the girls that will be running alongside of us, run for campers whose lives will be forever changed by their camp experience, and most of all we run for Jula.
