0K to My First 10K Run (for Women's Aid - SYWA)

My Story

I have tried to start running multiple times over the past 5 years but have never stuck at it usually giving up after once or twice - opting to watch Netflix or go on the PlayStation.

After becoming frustrated with myself, I thought enough was enough and decided to make a big song and dance about how I am going to give myself until the end of the year (Late November 2019) to do the Doncaster 10K Run in under 60 Minutes. I vocalised this goal to a few friends hoping the potential humiliation from failing would stop me quitting but that wasn't successful. I have therefore decided to up the stakes and commit to raising money for a wonderful local charity.

Now as I am writing this, I realise there is no getting out of what will need to be months of commitment. So here goes..."Run, Daniel, Run!"

South Yorkshire Women's Aid (Doncaster)

SYWA (Doncaster) is a local charity that provides confidential therapeutic support to women empowering them to break free from the cycle of domestic abuse - for good! Their Senior Domestic Abuse Specialists have a range of skills and experience including: Systemic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Behaviour Exposure Therapy, Person Centred Counselling, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfullness. SYWA (Doncaster) explores options and empower women to make their own decisions in these circumstances. This local charity has a group of dedicated and inspirational individuals at its core who with small donations and their unbelievable hard work keep this vital service going.

Even the smallest donations going to this charity will provide me with the motivation to keep pushing to 10k and beyond.
