Run, Walk or Crawl Grandad Gary’s 10km a day

Most people that know me will know that I'm up for a physical challenge too raise money for a worthy cause and many of you have helped me before.

Alzheimer’s is a particularly cruel disease  because there is no current cure.

Whilst walking today I was thinking about New Years Resolutions and Challenges.

I personally sometimes struggle with anxiety and motivation, I overthink and that affects me mentally. When I exercise most of this goes away.

I started with Born Survivors, Tough Guys, Tough Mudders, Man vs Lakes, The Chester 50 and The Lap 50 miles up and around Windermere. They help me and in turn the fund raising helps others.

I love the challenges but unless I’ve got something booked I struggle with the motivation to train regularly.

So this is what I thought today, alongside anything else I do this year …

I’m going to do 10km a day run, walk or crawl for 365 days raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s.

It takes me on average 50 minutes to run 10km so I’m committing to at least an hour a day every day for a year. If I walk double it.

The hardest part about this challenge won’t be finding the time or motivation every single day … Im sad to say it will be raising the money.
