Running a Distance in Memory of Al Keegan

This memorial is dedicated to the memory of Al Keegan. Husband to Martina. Dad to Evie (6) & Seimi (2). Brother to Sharon and Mark and a great friend of many.
In March 2020, Al passed away.
In memory of Al we are trying to raise money for Shannon’s Hopeline and Pieta House. Al ran gigs to raise money for Pieta House and used their services a few years ago himself. They continue to offer help to people who need it.
Shannons Hopeline is a small Dublin 8 based charity doing huge work around community mental health. They provide counselling, education and they endeavour to remove the stigma around mental health discussions. They offer Evie a bereavement service through play therapy, a form of psychotherapy that uses play to help children deal with emotional and mental health issues.
The aim of the run is to collect donations to offer to both charities so that they may continue their incredible work.
Covid allowing, on Saturday 27th of March a collective of Al's friends will run a distance in Memory of Al. The distances are; 42k (Marathon), 21k (Half Marathon) & 10k. The proposed route laps around Blessington lake which is exactly 10k starting and ending at Knockieran car park. The run will start at 10am with the longest distance runners completing 2 laps before the half marathon runners join in on lap 3 (12:00). The final lap will see the 10k runners join (13:00). Times are exaggerated estimates.
This is not a race but a coming together to go a distance for Al.
The plan for after the run is to visit Al’s tree and then onto The Avon for lunch and a get together. (14:30)
