Run for Sarah

Wow!  The picture above was taken about 2 years ago.  I took Sarah on a picnic, Sonic burgers and I parked us on the beach so she could see the water.  That was a good day, she was happy!!!! That's what we did and I still do today as much as I can!!!!  That's who we are.

So, here's a little about us.  I work full time as an Athletic trainer working mostly with rodeo athletes as well as local high school athletes.  Sarah, my wife of 30 years is retired and has been diagnosed with Alzhiemers.  We, or rather Sarah, have been dealing with this for about 5 years, 6 at the most.   I am battling cancer for the second go round.  But this is not about me; it’s about me taking care of my Sarah.

Sarah and I, for the most part have always dealt with our issues, dealing with them as they come.  She was my caregiver from 2004 until 2007 when I made remission.  Now, I am her care giver.

As you know there is no cure for this terrible disease Alzheimer’s.  Her body is healthy but her brain is not.  She does not have any other medical issues other than Alzheimer’s.  She is taking the current prescribed treatment consisting of Namenda, Exelon patch, Zoloft, Seroquel and Abilify all of which is supposed to slow the progression and help with mood swings.  And, I think it has been helping!
While Sarah is not in a debilitated state she does require, need and has a full time caregiver.  A part time caregiver is needed as well to help the full time caregiver.

This is where I need help.  As you know the cost of quality care giving is expensive and now our funds are running out.  I will not place my Sarah in a home, I couldn't afford that anyway.  If need be, I will sell everything we have to keep her at home and care for her.
All funds will go directly into an account, "Run For Sarah" specifically for Sarah's care.   None of the money has ever nor will ever be used except for her care and the paying of her caregivers.  We need it so I can pay for her caregivers.

At this point I have run out of resources, my 401 is unattainable because I am not of "age" go figure that rule out and it seems my only other option is to quit work and stay home with Sarah, and while I would love to be home with her, that will only compound the problem.  No work, no money.

Please understand that I am not just sitting back on my thumbs looking for a handout.  I work full time while taking cancer treatments.  I work to keep developing our farm, DS Cattle.  I have begun working with an online shopping club to help us and while that is beginning to show promise it is not quick enough.  (But if you're interested in looking at our online shopping club send me a private message and I'll be in touch.)

I am asking for help because Sarah is my world, I am who I am because of her.  Never in our 30 years has she ever told me that I couldn't do anything.  She was always and still is supportive of anything I do.  Even today when I share with her that there's something I'm going to do, she'll mumble "you can do that".  That's my Sarah!

I thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart for any assistance that you can give.
However; if you are unable to help I certainly understand, I would ask that you please share with your circle of friends!
