Run for BSM foundation

Donation protected
Ballymena School of Music (BSM) have been working on a charitable focus offering scholarships to those children who are unable to afford musical tuition.

Almost 1 in 4 children in Northern Ireland are currently living in poverty based on the most recent statistic published 14 May 2020. "Children in poverty are twice as likely to leave school without 5 good GCSEs. They are also more likely to suffer poor mental health and have fewer years of good physical health". NICCY

BSM's ambition is to support young people in the community through music, providing them with an opportunity to learn, create music and build confidence and come together with other children.

How do I fit into all this?
I am a teacher and I teach stringed instruments. I have seen how music can enrich a persons life. Music has so much power that we don't even recognise. Giving an instrument to someone and teaching them goes a lot further than the black dots on the stave.

This is the reason I have decided to run for BSM. I am aiming to complete a half marathon distance just after Christmas. I believe that music is more powerful than we give it credit. The money that we raise will go into funding those lessons for children that want to learn but can't afford it. Music should not be limited to those that can afford it, everyone has the right to education!

If you could donate anything you might be able to and share this I would be so grateful!
