Recovery Fund for Mike Ruffing

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 17th, our friend, brother and neighbor, Mike Ruffing was seriously injured in an ATV accident near South Fork, PA. Mike was rushed to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown to undergo an emergency craniectomy as well as treatments to repair his femur, jaw and hand which were also shattered in the accident.
Mike is currently in a coma and fighting for his life. There is no projected timeline for his recovery, but all indications are that the road ahead will be both long and arduous.
It is our hope that in starting this Go Fund Me page, we can help alleviate some of the financial burden levied on the shoulders of his family as Mike continues to fight and recover. Tragically, Mike lost his beloved daughter, Kyla to a battle with Leukemia on July 21st, 2013 at the age of 8 years old. Kyla fought with every fiber of her being and underwent numerous medical treatments including several rounds of chemotherapy, clinical trials, and even a bone marrow transplant. Mike exhausted every penny he ever made to help finance Kyla's treatments and keep her comfortable.
In the years since Kyla's passing, Mike has continued to be an advocate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, organizing fundraisers, walks, motorcycle rides and benefit events to help finance research that could prevent other families from suffering loss and tragedy as his family did.
Mike and his family will need to raise a considerable amount of money to help cover costs stemming from medical expenses for treatments, surgeries, medications and rehabilitation over the months and years ahead. It is not known how long Mike will remain incapacitated, but it is of the utmost importance that he and his family are kept as comfortable as possible while we watch and hope to see him heal and get back on his feet.
