Rues Recovery Fund

Thanks for considering our appeal for help with vet costs for our 8mth old puppy Rue...

Two months ago Rue slipped her lead when we were on a walk, jumped over a big wall, ran out on a main road and was hit by a car. It was horrific, and pretty much a miracle she survived, but it wasn't without injury. Thanks to some very kind people on the scene who administered first aid on her wounds and gave us a lift straight to the emergency vets she has had top class medical treatment from the get go. The first night we left her we didn't even know if she would survive the night, we'v never been so scared! Thankfully she did and despite her injuries Rue was there to great us in the morning with her wee wagging tail. Unfortunately she sustained two spinal fracture, two pelvic fractures, left hip fracture, right knee fracture, bruised lungs and extensive leg wounds. After a week long stay in hospital and surgery to correct the fractures we were able to take her home. Thank the heavens for pet insurance because that covered the £7000 of treatment she has already received.

We thought we were on the road to recovery (this was measured on the increasing eagerness to chase the kitties and constantly outsmarting us n finding very creative ways of getting her cone of shame off lol). With enough love, cage rest, chicken and rice we healed her wounds and sorted those spine and pelvic fractures. All the time Rue being happy and comfortable and not ever complaining or letting it get her down. We are so proud of her for all of this!

Sadly over the last few weeks Rue has used her back leg less n less to the point its lame. We'v had her X-rayed and the results show that the head and neck femur fracture correction surgery hasn't taken and the blood supply to the head of the bone has stopped and so, needs removed as its a necrosis risk. So now Rue faces femoral head osteotomy surgery, basically making it a boneless hip. Sounds drastic, but because dogs are awesome, their muscles compensate and she will be a normal little doggo once again. Its the last hurdle...

Here comes the big problem... we'v hit our limit on insurance and so, have to find the money to pay all her vet fees from now on and quite frankly, after the few months we'v had, we can't afford it.

Iv had the hospital give me a quote for the surgery and aftercare which has come to £1800 'IF' there are no complications. Thankfully the hospital have agreed to do the surgery immediately as its that urgent (Friday 30th June). She may have already even had it by the time you've read this but it doesn't change the fact we have to find this money. Putting stubborn pride aside, we need help. We want to give Rue the absolutely best aftercare we can provide but we can't do that until we clear our feet of this epic bill, and we have come WAY too far to give up on her now because, after all this puppy has been through, she deserves to recover and lead an extremely well loved happy life with us!

If all that wasn't already traumatic enough for Rue, she didn't get the best start to life either. Rue was found with brothers and sisters abandoned on the streets of Romania, living by a bin in -18 degrees, her only war wound from this is loosing the tip of one ear to frostbite. Thanks to a charity 'Barking Mad Rescue' she was found and brought back to health where we saw her pictures and instantly fell in love! They provided transport to have her driven over to us via Europe so she has probably been to more countries than me on her travels lol!

I know everyone thinks their dog is the best but Rue is the most stunning and beautifully natured wee lass. She is such a trooper having survived everything she has and still a happy pup thats full of beans. We love her so much and would do anything for her and badly want this story to conclude with a happy ever after.

Well done to making it to the end of our story and thank you so so much for taking the time to read this ❤
