<div>Hi, my name is Mags! I founded Ruby and Laurel Animal Rescue Inc. in 2020. We are a North Carolina based rescue that operates out of foster homes and does not have a physical location. We focus on the hard cases: medical, emaciation, neonatals, abandonment, abuse, and at-risk for euthanasia at our local county shelter. We advocate for spay and neuter and emphasize the importance of vaccines and heartworm prevention.

<div>Through social media we have expanded our support system and hope to continue to reach new adopters and supporters. In 2023 we decided to close as we simply did not have enough funding to continue taking on more animals and I was supporting the difference in cost for the majority of medical bills. Simply stated, that was unsustainable long-term.

<div>Three weeks ago we made enough in donations to make the decision to remain open for 2024, but if we aren’t extremely careful the same thing will happen again. Almost all of our veterinary services changed their pricing at the beginning of the year. We need help paying off our medical bills and having enough left over to pre-pay for future medical procedures such as:

<div>Routine vaccines (around $120)
</div>
<div>spays &amp; neuters ($80 - $700)
</div>
<div>heartworm treatments ($1200-$4000 depending on weight)
</div>
<div>heartworm prevention ($35-$200)
</div>
<div>flea and tick medication ($35)
</div>
<div>bloodwork ($20-$800)
</div>
<div>full spectrum dewormer ($10-$80 depending on what parasites are present and weight)

<div>emergent surgeries (can include gastric torsion, foreign body, polyp removal, hit by car or fight cases, cesarean, etc. usually upwards of $2000-$6000)
</div>
<div>FIP/FeLuk testing ($70-$200)
</div>
<div>dog &amp; cat food ($500 per week)
</div>
<div>puppy &amp; kitten formula ($30-$60 per can)
</div>
<div>cleaning supplies (virucides $60 per gallon)
</div>
<div>puppy pads ($20-$60 per box)

<div>Honestly that is a short list. We need funds for our main medical bill at Tram Road Animal Hospital in Clinton, NC. They have been gracious enough to let us run a total there, but it is past time to pay it off.
