Ruben's Road to Recovery

Hello friends and family,

As most of you already know, dad was recently diagnosed with gastric cancer. This was a difficult diagnosis for us all to accept, but as a family of faith, we are optimistic that he will heal and recover. We've all been busy with research - mom has him on a strict diet of no added sugar, and lots and lots of vegetables :)

Of course, he will require more traditional treatment as well. He has begun treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. Unfortunately, his first week at MD Anderson alone resulted in a bill of over $30,000 - that is not including the cost of travel and housing (and of course, with every week, this number will increase). MD Anderson does not accept many insurances, and so, his treatment is private pay for now. 

Anyone who knows my dad knows that he is an extremely hard worker, and never asks for help if he doesn't need it. Even putting up this page took some convincing on our part. 

Dad has given his entire life to others -  his family, children in the community, his patients, etc. I ask that if he has touched your life in some way, that you please let him know you are with him now. Your monetary donations (no matter how big or small) are so greatly appreciated and will go towards helping to offset some of the costs associated with his treatment. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please send him love and good vibes, and say an extra prayer for him before bed.
