HELP CALVIN CROSS CANADA
In November of 2016 at the age of just 53, Calvin sought medical attention with what he thought was just a really bad case of the flu. It was shortly after that he and his family received news that would turn their world upside down. Cal was informed by his doctors that he had end stage PANCREATIC CANCER and to get his affairs in order. He was given just months to live! Calvin has a very determined mindset and has spent the last two and a bit years fighting every step of the way. He has managed to see his son get married, and be here for the birth of his last granddaughter.
Even with such a devastating prognosis, Calvin was not willing to give up. He has done everything from juicing, to vitamin therapy and everything else one could imagine. Then came the chemotherapy. After 2 bouts of chemotherapy he felt even more sick and had to stop. This has left him with so little time not knowing when would be his last day. His final wish is to travel across Canada with his wife Cindy to see the country.
Calvin is now taking part in the Personalized Onco- Genomics (POG) program which involves decoding DNA inside a cell-to help understand what might be enabling an individual's tumour to grow and ways to potentially stop the growth of the tumour. This is a ground floor study and although this may not change the outcome for Calvin, he has agreed to part take in this study in hopes that it may one day help another family. Just one more way that Calvin wishes to give so selflessly to others. To save even just one family from what they have had to endure, he knows, will make his pain worthwhile.
We can’t change the situation but WE CAN change Calvin and Cindy’s world. This family has fought this battle and asked nothing from anyone. As one can imagine the toll emotionally and financially on any family given this kind of diagnosis. We are asking for ANY help from you to help ease their burden and to help with Cals one last wish to travel across Canada, for them to make everlasting memories. I know the goal may seem big, but if we can reach 1,000 people who can donate just $20 (4 starbucks coffees) You can change the world for a very deserving family. The money raised will go to help ease the financial burden as well as make some memories in which his family will hold onto forever.
