On 20th December 2020 my dog Guinness was struggling to go for a toilet, wasn't eating or drinking, or running around like his normal self, so I rang the vets and explained everything to them and with everything currently going on I've been out on furlough no one wanted to help or even let me set up a payment plan. I then rang the emergency vets at vets now  and explained everything again and they told me to take him. Straight there so off we went after sitting in the car waiting for about 4 hours they came outside to speak to me and tell me that he needed a cafeter fitted and if I didn't do this the waste poison would go round his body and kill him so I went ahead with it, they said they think he might have stones and I brought him home not sleeping and having to empty his cafeter at night and in the mornings. Then on the 21st December I had to take him to his normal vets so I rang for an appointment and explained about furlough again and got told to go straight there the vet then done xrays and scans and said he couldn't see any stones or a mass and gave me medication costing another big amount. I then went back for a follow up appointment a few days later and Guinness was fully himself so the meds were starting to work the vet then took the cafeter out and Guinness done a wee so I thought yes we are getting somewhere, vet asked to see him on Christmas eve and again was happy with his progress but told me to carry on with his meds everything was fine we enjoyed Christmas together.
31st December I noticed Guinness wasn't able to go for a toilet again so I walked and walked him whenever he wanted to go out but nothing still so I started to worry rang the emergency vets again as his normal was closed  they told me I had to go straight there yet again so off we went and the vet gave him a strong painkiller and said he was his normal happy self and she couldn't feel anything and off we went back home... Keeping an eye on him while he was sleepy and seeing in the new year I then tried to take him out for a toilet again and all he done was cry very loudly and I thought this isn't normal so I carried him home layed him on the sofa and he was still crying and crying so again I rang the emergency vets and off we go again I waited in the car to hear what was going on the vet then came out to talk to me and she said she tried to fit another cafeter but something was blocking it and she managed to get some stones out and gave me the option to either pay £2,000/£3,000 for an operation but risk it all coming back and he's now possibly got kidney failure or put my best friend to rest I couldn't stand seeing him in pain so I went with the only option I could and let him go.
So I've now got four different vet bills to pay within 28 days
