On behalf of the School Advisory Board and the parents of Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Melrose Park, Illinois, we request your help in keeping our school open by helping us raise money to pay for our deficit, along with setting up a scholarship to help support students who would like to attend Sacred Heart School.  There is an urgency in our need for help.  Our students, families and staff at Sacred Heart need a miracle and I hope that you can find it in your heart to help us during this difficult time.  On October 30, 2020, the parents received an email from the Archdiocese of Chicago informing us that our school is in jeopardy of closing its doors after 120 years.  We were shocked, heart broken and upset to learn of this news, especially since we have never been on a list prior to this.  Our enrollment this year has decreased due to the Coronavirus pandemic, thus putting us in financial straits.  We were told that we need to raise $225,000 by January in order to keep our school operational.  The decision by Cardinal Cupich will be made mid- January as to what our future holds, with the possibility that this will be our last school year.  It would be a tragedy if the school were to close. We are the only Catholic grade school in Melrose Park and surrounding areas. Our school serves the communities of Franklin Park, Hillside, Berkeley, Schiller Park, Maywood, Bellwood, Stone Park, Westchester and Melrose Park.  We are a school of dedicated teachers, wonderful families, and incredible students.  The teachers go above and beyond to support our families and teach a rigorous academic curriculum along with a strong faith formation.  They know each family personally as we are a small school.  Our parents sacrifice so much to send their children to our safe and academically strong school that provides our sacraments and daily religion classes. Our community needs this school! Sacred Heart School has challenges that I am sure we can overcome.  At the beginning of the School year, with the uncertainty of the pandemic around us, parents did not feel at ease sending their children to school.  Many chose to keep their children home for remote learning, with the intention of coming back to Sacred Heart when they return to work and or the virus has ceased or a vaccine is made.  We need time to recover our enrollment numbers—right now time is against us.  We have shown that we can pay our bills with our previous enrollment numbers.  This is the first time that we will not be able to do so.  We are willing to do whatever is necessary to keep it from being closed!  Our school is one of the only stable thing in their life during these uncertain times.  We do not want to see it taken away from them.  We want the chance to move ahead in 2021 and heal some of the hardships suffered in 2020.  Please share this Go Fund Me page with everyone you know!   Our children deserve the best that our community can provide.  Please get to know us by visiting our school or viewing our website at www.shsmelrosepark.com.  Please help us receive a Christmas miracle this season.  We would greatly appreciate any donation amount to help keep Sacred Heart School open. Al comienzo del ano escolar y con la incertidumbre de la pandemia alrededor nuestro, los padres con mucha cautela mandaron sus hijos a nuestra escuela. Muchos decidieron no traer a sus niños a las clases presenciales, pero mantienen la esperanza de regresar pronto a Sagrado Corazón, su ESCUELA.
