Recently our Aunt and Uncle Rick and Mickey Smith experienced a flood in their basement, from the great Greenville flood on June 6, 2019. With over three feet of water, they experienced a substantial loss. Loss which insurance will NOT cover. Their furnace, which is only a couple years old, will need over $2500 worth of work done just to hopefully repair it. Two freezers, both full of food, were both destroyed due to flood water. A lot of Uncle Rick's cleaning supplies for his cleaning business were also lost. As well as decorations, paper products , stowed away birthday and Christmas gifts , shelving and other items. They’ve had to rent dumpsters and thoroughly empty the basement to get the layers of mud out. Thankfully the West Salem fire department loaned a sump pump which got the water out over night. It will take weeks to get things somewhat put back. The entire basement will need mold remediation treatment as well. Their retirement earnings just can’t stretch far enough. Any help, no matter how small, will be gratefully appreciated!
