As many of you know, Rose's Luxury, Pineapple and Pearls & Little Pearl made the heartbreaking decision to close dine-in operations on Monday, March 16, 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on business while upholding the D.C. government requirements to keep staff and guests safe. As a result, 125 hourly workers were laid-off, with little ability to find alternative work given citywide closures.
While our management team has extended health care coverage until the end of April, a generous gesture given the severity of the industry's economic forecast, there is still little to no safety net for those with rent obligations, children, or chronic health conditions. This fund has been set up specifically to address the needs of our most vulnerable workers, to help pay for any medical co-pay fees and address urgent housing issues.
By donating here, you are directly helping the cooks who have labored to make your meals delicious, the housekeeping stewards who maintain our impeccably clean spaces, the servers, runners, bussers and hosts who have greeted you with warmth and the baristas who have kept you warm and caffeinated.
This page is entirely managed and operated by the workers, for the workers. 100% of the proceeds from this fund will go directly to helping the most vulnerable of our staff members during this crisis. This is not to benefit the restaurants nor will it cover any business or operational costs.
