Canadian Dream, Connor Roberts

Donation protected
“Kind hearted…”, “a good soul…”, “he roots for the underdog…”,

These are just some of the kind words spoken of Owen Sound’s very own Connor Roberts who was selected to play at the World Youth Olympics in Lillehammer Norway February 12th - 21st 2016.

This inspiring 15 year old holds the title of captain to the Grey Bruce Highlanders Minor Midgets and played in the OSMHG system until his Peewee year.

Connor’s hockey genes are deep, his proud father, Mike Roberts played for The Owen Sound Greys; in the Ontario Junior A Hockey League from 1985 to 1987. He was a valuable member of the team the year the Grey’s won the Junior A Championship in 1987.

Connor has grown up in Owen Sound surrounded by his biggest fans, his mom, Laurie, originally from Sauble Beach, his sister Marley who is only 18 months younger than Connor, his brother Logan, and his father Mike who was born and raised in Owen Sound. Connor attends St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound, and dedicates approximately 5 days a week to games and practice with the Highlanders.

“A natural born leader…” “A person of influence…”

He has the ability to make an impact on others. “He pays attention to what others are doing, he’s an observer” Many believe this is what gives him the upper hand in the game he plays so well.

Connor has a positive impact on all those he interacts with and as a result they are left feeling better than he found them. He’s wise and has leadership skills beyond his years. He is such an asset to his team and school. His teachers, coaches, friends and fellow students all think very highly of this 15 year old young man who now has been gifted what some might consider, the opportunity of a lifetime .

Connor is so fortunate and humbled to have the full support of Hockey Canada to financially support his commitment to play for the World Youth Olympics next month in Norway. He is grateful beyond words for this recognition and honour.

Our Community would like to come together to accept nominal donations to purchase flights and accommodations for his family to accompany him on this journey to building what we all know will become a legendary hockey career.

His Mom, Dad and sister would never expect nor even ask for your support to be at their son’s side while his dreams come true before their very own eyes. So we, as a supportive and hockey lovin’ community ask for your generosity. Let’s showcase Grey Bruce culture worldwide, lets make this dream a reality for this family, let’s give generously, let’s be part of something bigger than ourselves and allow this incredible family to experience the sheer joy, pride, and excitement of their son achieve one of his goals!

This all comes to fruition 2 very short weeks from now, (so we need to act fast!).

In addition to all of this excitement, Connor will be flying home from Lillehammer on February 22nd, his 16th birthday. Let’s help his family share in this incredible adventure with him. Please consider helping Connor’s family accompanying him on this once in a lifetime journey to the WORLD YOUTH OLYMPICS!
