Royal Preston ward 8 toy appeal

Hi I am Lorna Connors. I have two children, Seren who is almost 4 and Liam who has just turned 2.

Every time Liam has a cold, cuts a tooth we end up on ward 8. The staff are fantastic on here and do everything they can to look after the children but also the parents too. We almost lost our Liam last year and he ended up in high dependency something I don’t think I have really come to terms with until very recently.

Liam has had a total of 9 admissions since last September 2020, due to his chest and so we almost find ourselves there quite a lot especially through the winter months. The toys are only as good as what they rely on from donations which have to be brand new due to COVID-19.

My ask which is a big ask but to anyone that can spare an extra toy for one of the children on the ward on Christmas Day they will be wrapped up by the play team for the inpatients children to open. The other gifts will be put into the toy boxes to refresh the toys already on the ward.

The age range on the ward is 0-19 and both genders. I am asking my friends to share my group and asking a couple of local businesses if they can help become collection points as well for these toys.

I really hope you can support our local children’s ward. I aim to have items donated the week 13th December so I am going to look at businesses that will take collections for me as well.
