Our mother, Roxana Bowles, passed away on February 18, 2022. She came to the United States from Santa Cruz, Bolivia at the age of 18. Our mom was given the opportunity to pursue her studies in the United States, and she believed in the importance of an education. Although she lived in the States, a big piece of her heart belonged to her homeland, Bolivia.

Since her passing, many of her classmates from her high school have reunited and have connected with one another after more than 55 years. We have met several of these classmates recently, as a result. Through this connection, we came up with the idea of honoring our mother by setting up a scholarship to help another Bolivian student pursue his/her dream to further their education.

One of our mother's classmates is a professor at a university in our mother's hometown of Santa Cruz and is supporting our efforts to help us award a memorial scholarship in our mother's honor. We appreciate your support, and your $10 or more contribution would help us reach our goal towards funding and awarding this scholarship to a deserving student in need of financial assistance.  We  are excited to  award the scholarship by Zoom and will have a representative present to award the scholarship in person.  We know Mom would love this idea, and it pleases us to know we can make a small difference in this world to pay it forward in her honor.
