</div>
<div><strong>Tony Rowland</strong>, funeral director of Rowland Brothers in Croydon, has been awarded an MBE for his outstanding service to bereavement care and the community. Starting in 1953, he pioneered free aftercare support for grieving families and created a global repatriation network handling over 40,000 cases—including those from major disasters like 9/11 and the South Asia tsunami. At 80, he still works full-time and shares his expertise with diplomats and police. Deeply involved in local charities, he founded the Rowland Brothers Foundation and the Thornton Heath Festival to support youth and community unity. His compassion and dedication remain widely respected.
