Hello everyone,
This is not something that I am accustomed to doing but under these circumstances it was imperative. One of our Salt Spring Island families, the Rougers, need our help. Some of you may know Suzanne from her work in community theatre,(director of Harold & Maude, Rumors, Peter on the Brink, etc.), her work with the Salt Spring Soap Company and her bubbly, inclusive personality.
In December, Pierre Rouger, Suzanne's husband found himself bumping into people and things at work. Sophie, his daughter, took him to the hospital to be checked out. After a long arduous process, unfortunately, the test results were not good...Pierre has been diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer.
Pierre had emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor which resulted in paralysis on the left side of his body and Pierre is now confined to a wheel chair. To add to matters, since the surgery, last month, the tumor has returned. He is going to begin radiation in Vancouver, but the diagnosis is not looking hopeful.
Needless to say Pierre is unable to work and Suzanne has had to quit her job to care for Pierre and the family. This has put them into a very serious financial crisis that looks like it may result in the loss of their home. The money that we raise will be used to cover the mortgage, travel costs for treatment, bills and additional expenses while they go through this difficult time. Every little bit helps. If you can't give financially, all the positive thoughts and love you can muster would be most appreciated.
