Roths Family Progressive MS Battle

In 2012 my close friend Paige and her husband Tom became parents to beautiful twin boys Oliver and Wyatt. They were on cloud nine. The next two years, as you could imagine, were a blur full of triumphs and celebrations. Things for the family were great until one day in March of this year Tom woke up not feeling well. They thought he had mono. After a few days and finally being able to pull himself out of bed, Tom had no balance and his entire left leg went numb giving him drop foot (not being able to lift your foot in order to walk) After a trip to the doctor they prescribed him physical therapy as they thought he had Spinal Stenosis. (pressure on the muscles.) The diagnosis was not so easy.....

Tom went to physical therapy and failed the initial tests: he fell off  the treadmil, failed the slump test etc. His physical therapist insisted he go to an emergency room at once. Tom spent the next 7 days in the hospital getting MRI's, Spinal Taps and loads of steroids in hopes to find out what was going on and help the symptoms, all the while Paige  is holding down the fort with their twin boys. After multiple speculations on what was causing Tom's issues he was diagnosed with Progressive MS and by the end of April could not walk without a cane, making playing with his beautiful boys nearly impossible. Tom also tested positive for the JC virus which meant he could not take the typical drugs and now has to get Rituxan every six weeks which makes him feel quite Ill for days at a time keeping him away from work and the joy of playing with his family.
After being diagnosed, Tom, Paige and family have tried everything possible to help Tom's symptoms. They are more active, eat healthy with little to no gluten, provide a cool environment as much as possible and have raised money to help research cures for this life altering disease. All of which they were told could help, but to no avail. There is one last thing they could try...using stem cells. This is where they need some help. This experimental method is expensive!!!
