Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise to Match Your Gift!
The COVID-19 pandemic is having many effects on our community, but being hungry should not be one of them.
Please join us by making a contribution to food agencies that make sure our neighbors here in the Myrtle Beach Area don’t go hungry through the Rotary Serves Virtual Food Drive. The Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise is cooperating with Rotary District #7770 and Rotary International to match up to the first $5,000 in contributions to what is raised through this GoFundMe initiative.
Our GOAL: $10,000 total to split among the four organizations below to feed our neighbors in Horry County ($5,000 raised from GoFundMe, over $900 from a Rotary District Grant and Rotary International, and over $4,000 from Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise Rotary Club)
We have identified and are cooperating with these four participating organizations to feed our community members in need due to COVID-19:
Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach works to provide a hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner to individuals in need from its location in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and is already experiencing increased demand for meals, which it anticipates will be 15 – 20% higher than normal demand at this time of the year due to COVID-19. Meals on Wheels of Horry County provides meals for homebound and elderly clients around the region and are seeing heightened need by others due to COVID-19. In the past few weeks, they have served 13, 553 meals!
Shepherds Table of Conway, SC provides meals for families who need help. In the past few weeks, they have seen a spike in the number of those who need food.
Spokes of Hope adopts a $15/for/5 program to bring meals to families through cooperating with local restaurants. $15 brings a hot meal to a family of 5. Based in Longs, South Carolina, Spokes of Hope is already experiencing heightened demand during COVID-19. Website: spokesofhopesc.com
Please join us in this effort by contributing what you can – a little, a lot….. All will be helpful and keep a child, adult, family, or senior citizen from being hungry during this pandemic. Every dollar, up to $5,000 total raised through this effort, will be matched by a Rotary dollar to help feed our community during COVID-19.
