VERSION EN ESPAÑOL: Yo hago esta solicitud en nombre de mi cuñada Rosa Yorizzo y mi hermano. Ellos tenían una compañía de importación de libros especializados, la cual, después de muchos años de trabajo e inversión, tuvieron que cerrar en el año 2003 debido al control de cambios establecido por el gobierno de su país, el cual finalmente les hizo imposible continuar con su negocio. SU HISTORIA: Durante el proceso de cierre de la compañía, moviendo cajas de libros, mi cuñada comenzó a sufrir de fuertes dolores en la espalda los cuales se fueron agravando hasta padecerlos sin cesar 24 horas al día. Sufriendo de hernia discal lumbar tuvo que ser operada ese mismo año. Después de su reposo, ellos comenzaron a pensar qué podían hacer para obtener nuevos ingresos económicos. Ante la imposibilidad de reintegrarse a una actividad asalariada, ellos comenzaron a hacer objetos personalizados para recuerdos de ocasiones especiales, incluyendo papelería, chapas, chocolatería e inclusive bisutería. Mientras tanto, la salud de mi cuñada se fue ido deteriorando progresivamente. Como resultado de la hernia discal operada, y aunque el dolor lumbar era soportable, su pie izquierdo y los dedos del pie comenzaron una serie de movimientos y contorsiones involuntarias. Esto nunca volvió a su estado normal y le imposibilitaba hacer trabajos físicos. Luego ella comenzó a sufrir de otros dolores sin ninguna lógica pero que le imposibilitaban aún más la realización de cualquier trabajo físico. Fue entonces cuando le diagnosticaron Fibromialgia , enfermedad crónica de origen neurológico caracterizada por dolores generalizados de los músculos y de los huesos, con hipersensibilidad exagerada y que en su caso generan una gran variedad de síntomas, entre los cuales destacan dolores de cabeza casi a diario, dolores lumbares y en otras partes del cuerpo y fatiga persistente, sueño no reparador, rigidez generalizada y los síntomas ansioso-depresivos. Fue referida a un neurólogo y este también la diagnosticó tentativamente con Mal de Parkinson pero luego de 8 meses de tratamiento y al no presentarse nuevos síntomas de Parkinson, el diagnóstico cambió a distonía focal del pie izquierdo, que se ha ido esparciendo por los músculos de la pierna hasta la cintura, causando contracciones involuntarias de los músculos que a su vez resultan en torsiones y movimientos dolorosos y repetitivos y una pérdida casi completa de sensibilidad en el pie izquierdo. Impedida de trabajar fuera del ámbito laboral externo e impedida también de ejercer labores cotidianas, el peso de los quehaceres de la casa, y su manutención han recaído sobre su esposo, lo cual también ha afectado su salud. Desafortunadamente ellos viven en un país donde no existe la seguridad social y donde la inflación galopante, las largas filas de horas para poder obtener medicamentos y productos alimenticios de primera necesidad que carecen debido a la escasez, han acabado con la posibilidad para ella de sobreponerse de alguna manera lógica a tan restrictiva enfermedad y padecimientos. Financieramente, están quebrados y viven del amor de familiares y amigos. Han vendido la mayoría de sus artículos de valor y hasta el vehículo que tanto necesitan para desplazarse al médico o a la insoportable búsqueda de alimentos y medicinas, ha finalmente quedado inservible por falta de fondos y reparaciones a precios inalcanzables. Por lo tanto su movilidad actual está restringida a su casa. QUE SIGNIFICA VIVIR CON FIBROMIALGIA Y DISTONIA ? Mi cuñada experimenta una mezcla de síntomas complicados: • Ella siente un sentimiento de fatiga y dolor en las partes blandas del cuello, los brazos, los hombros y en las piernas y una sensación permanente de inflamación. • Ella siente una falta de energía complete y pronunciada, conocida como Fibro-neblina, la cual causa una inhabilidad de concentrase y enfocarse que hace muy difícil cualquier actividad mental o física. Simplemente las tareas simples parece difíciles o imposibles. • Vivir con estas condiciones significa no poder realizar actividades diarias, no poder tener una vida diaria normal, tomar medicamentos antinflamatorios y analgésicos todo el día. Significa evitar abrazos, caricias y cualquier roce debido al dolor que se siente bajo cualquier contacto físico y estar tan cansado que uno no se puede ni levantar para tomar una ducha. • Significa que todos los quehaceres diarios parece tareas inalcanzables. • Ella debe soportar y vivir con un gran dolor y contracciones musculares constantes y a diario. • Es muy importante que estas condiciones son silentes e individuales, hacienda de ellas una Fuente de inseguridad, soledad y un motive cultivo para la depresión. • Para ella es muy importante no estar sola. Ella necesita el apoyo de su esposo o de alguna otra persona que la cuide. Si su esposo se ocupa de ella todo el tiempo, por supuesto no puede trabajar o encontrar una solución laboral viable para mantenerse. • Ella necesita evitar el stress y la ansiedad. • Ella necesita mantenerse positiva. • Ella debe tener actividades físicas supervisadas ya que esta actividad reduce los síntomas de depresión y alimenta un mejor descanso. COMO PUEDE USTED AYUDAR ? Usted puede ayudar a hacer la diferencia de muchas maneras: • Contribuyendo a esta petición usted ayudará a buscar, continuar y pagar tratamientos apropiados y maneras alternativas de lidiar con estas condiciones. • Usted contribuirá a pagar sus deudas y continuar los tratamientos sin incurrir nuevas deudas y así eliminando el stress que solo hace que las condiciones empeoren. • Aunque no existe cura alguna para estas condiciones, usted la ayudaría a ella y a su esposo a salir de este período oscuro para que ellos puedan reincorporarse a una vida productiva, positiva y digna. • Usted también ayudaría como agente multiplicador de esta campaña. • Usted también ayudaría a informar y educar a otros sobre estas condiciones devastadoras (Fibromialgia and Distonía ) para poder así crear conciencia para así darle esperanza a los que sufren de las mismas para que así se reintegren a una vida lo más normal posible. Es por este motivo que me he ofrecido para ayudarlos con esta petición para poder reunir dinero suficiente para cubrir sus medicamentos, sus gastos y las pruebas para nuevos diagnósticos costosos que puedan darle una vida digna y llevadera. HER STORY: They had an importing company specialized in English as a Foreign Language textbooks, but after many years of hard work they had to close the company in 2003 due to the currency exchange control established by the government of their country, which made it impossible for them to work with foreign currency, thus disabling their importing abilities. During the closing of the company and its inventory, while moving stock, my sister in law started suffering from very strong back pain, which became constant and unbearable almost 24 hours a day. Apparently she suffered from a lumbar herniated disc. She was operated in 2003 and after the convalescence period, she and my brother started thinking about their next step in their economical quest. But faced with the inability to find a steady job, they recurred to the task of creating and offering personalized items for special occasions, such as stationery, pins and even bijoux. In the meantime, my sister in law’s health started to deteriorate progressively. As a result of her operation, while her pain has somewhat subsided, her left foot and her toes started a series of involuntary contortions and movements. This quickly jeopardized her ability to do any physical task or to be engaged as a salary worker. This condition never subsided and afterwards she began to suffer other unexplained pains throughout her body adding to her already existing inabilities. It was then that she was diagnosed with <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/basics/definition/con-20019243" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fibromyalgia</a> , a chronic neurological illness characterized by extreme and generalized muscular and bone pain with added hyper-sensibility. She suffered (and still does) from constant headaches, body aches, lumbar pain, chronic fatigue, drowsiness, stiffness and depressive anxiety. She was also then referred to a neurologist who initially diagnosed her with Parkinson’s decease, but after several months of treatment and in absence of any other symptoms, she was then diagnosed with <a href="https://www.dystonia-foundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Focal Dystonia</a> , a neurological movement disorder which causes sustained involuntary twisting muscle contractions and repetitive movements, which often overflow to adjacent muscles, as such is her case. These movements are painful and have spread to her whole leg and lumbar region and she hardly has any sensibility on her left foot. So unable to find a steady job and to work around the house or take care of herself, all chores and care have fallen under her husband, who cannot leave her alone. Unfortunately they live in a country where social security does not exist, and a country engulfed in a rampage of galloping inflation, insecurity and shortage of medicines, food and everyday products. The lengthy lines existing throughout the country to buy food, medicines or everyday products, which can sometimes take many hours without guarantee of finding anything, have also diminished their ability to recoup from financial crisis and to seek appropriate treatment for such a restraining and incapacitating illness. They are indeed broke and they count on the love and help of family and friends who are also enduring the hardships of a country falling apart. They have sold most of their important possessions and even their car is out of service due to repairs, which they cannot afford. Her mobility has been reduced to her apartment and near surroundings. SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE WITH <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/basics/definition/con-20019243" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FIBROMYALGIA</a> AND <a href="https://www.dystonia-foundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FOCAL DYSTONIA</a> ? According to my sister-in-law she experiences a complicated mix of symptoms: · She feels an overwhelming feeling of fatigue and pain, either in tender spots on the neck, arms, shoulders, and legs, or an overall muscle soreness. · She feels a complete and utter lack of energy, known as Fibro fog, which causes an inability to focus or concentrate. It is a constant exhaustion, which makes it difficult to exert mental or physical energy for anything. It makes simple tasks difficult if not impossible. · To live with these conditions (<a href="http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/basics/definition/con-20019243" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fibromyalgia</a> and <a href="https://www.dystonia-foundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Focal Dystonia</a> ) means not to be able to do daily chores, not being able to have a normal daily life, taking anti-inflammatory, pain-killers and other medicaments on a daily basis, it means avoiding hugs and caress due to the excruciating pain you feel when somebody touches you or being so tired that you can’t even get up to take a shower. · It means that all your daily normal tasks become a series of unachievable obstacles. · You must support great pain and muscular contractions all day long. · And what’s very important is that these conditions are silent and individual, making them a source of insecurity, loneliness and a breeding ground for depression. · It is important then not to stay alone. She needs support from either her husband or a hired help who can stay with her. But if her husband takes care of her, then he cannot work or find a viable working solution in a country increasingly plagued with unemployment. · She needs to avoid stress and anxiety. · She must stay positive and she must pace herself without piling up too many tasks for each day. · She must retake physical activity since a moderate daily activity eases symptoms of depression and encourages better sleep. HOW YOU CAN HELP ? You can help in many ways and make a difference: ·  By contributing to this pledge you will be helping her seek and pay for the appropriate treatment and ways of coping with her syndrome. ·  You will be helping her to pay her debts and continue any treatment without incurring more debt, therefore eliminating additional stress which only makes her condition worse. ·  Although there is no known cure for any of these two conditions, you will be helping her and her husband come out of a dark period, so that they can rejoin a productive and positive life. ·  You can also act as multiplying agents of my campaign to create a great ripple effect. ·  You can also help others learn about <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/basics/definition/con-20019243" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fibromyalgia</a> and <a href="https://www.dystonia-foundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dystonia</a> so that we can all create awareness about these condition in order to give patients the hope of finding a way out and reincorporate to as normal as life as they can get and above all so that they can feel productive again.
