Rosscarrock Community Fridge

Hello! We are The Hatch, a Calgary-based mutual aid group that promotes collective action and community collaboration. Our first initiative is the introduction of a community fridge to offer free, immediate access to food and essential items for all community members in Rosscarrock and surrounding areas (Calgary, Alberta).

 

After we carried out a survey in the Rosscarrock community and nearby neighbourhoods, we concluded that there is a high demand for this project, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the livelihood of many families and individuals. This fridge/community pantry will be a 24/7 source for free, fresh, and healthy food for all.

 

With the funds raised here, we will set up a clean and safe fridge/pantry space by the Rosscarrock Community Hall, located at 4411 10 Ave SW.  These funds will also maintain our Kaffeeklatsch pantry; a small pantry we've set up by the cafe on 1205 1st Street SW.

Every dollar donated to us will go towards maintaining the community fridge and pantry, purchasing cleaning items and other supplies, and keeping both these spaces stocked with food.

 

The majority of our team members are located in or near the Rosscarrock area, so with this project we hope to invite individuals to be meaningfully involved within their community, and to bring about positive change through their involvement and beyond. We encourage people to donate food and essentials to the fridge/pantry as well!
