We have been lucky enough to speak to Service Dogs Europe about their amazing diabetic alert dogs and we would love to be able to bring one into our home as added support and security, for both Rosie and us as a family.
We are hoping to raise as much as we can, towards the £6000 it costs for the intensive training of the puppy/dog and would appreciate anything you can donate to this cause. All money donated will go towards the puppy and in the event of us exceeding the £6000, we will use the funds to cover the insurance we need to take out and also any vet bills too.
The puppy would be trained to alert us [her parents] when her blood glucose drops too low [hypo] or goes too high [hyper]. They can actually pick up the high or low bloods sometimes 30 minutes before her glucose monitor would! The dog would sleep in the same room as Rosie, so that even through the night, we can be alerted when her bloods peak or drop. As Rosie grows older, the training would change and Rosie would be alerted herself, once she is able to do her own injections. This would be a massive help to us, as at the moment Rosie has no awareness of these changes in her bloods and it can be dangerous if she is not treated correctly.
The dog would be trained and recognised as a working service dog and therefore would be able to come everywhere we go, in the same way a guide dog to the blind can.

Thank you, love Rosie and family x
