Rosie's Dream - Australian Football

Donation protected
I am heading off to Australia to fulfill a life time dream of playing the highest level of sport I can reach. I will be moving to Darwin, Aus January 2nd to play for Nightcliff in the Northern Territory Football League. Once that league is finished (about 6 weeks) I will be making the trek down to Melbourne where I will compete and see where my talent/skills fares with the high competition.

This decision of picking up my life and attempting a dream comes at several costs. The number one cost is my time - I dedicate most of my time training, planning and practicing. The second - is saying goodbye to my significant other, family and friends. The third - actually paying for it.

I can train and say goodbye but I do need money to go and stay.

You can expect me to give it my all. Seriously, I WILL GIVE EVERYTHING to reach this goal. I will consistently post my whereabouts, any drills and skills, fitness workouts, you'll be in the know. I can also be of help if you're on an ACL recovery journey or fitness journey.

If sending money isn't your thing but still want to help, please reach out and schedule a time to kick/practice/workout with me.

There really isn't much opportunity in the United States for women to move on to a top level of sport. If you asked me four years ago where my athletic goals were it would be to place first in some sort of race in whatever age category. Once I learned there was opportunity for me to take something as serious as I wanted - the sky was the LIMIT!

July 2015 I went on a second date with my current boyfriend to watch his sister play. At the time, I had just completed my four years of D1 Rowing and was training in open water swimming. I prefer team trainings over individual training so I went to their fitness through footy. I was convinced to try tackle (even though I had never tackled anyone in my life nor had I even seen my competitors face the last four years of rowing). WELP it was the best experienced I ever had. I then learned there was USA Tryouts for the International Cup and decided what the heck! Let's go. I made the USA Freedom team and we placed fourth in the 2017 International Cup.

April 21st, 2018 I tore my ACL playing in a regional final with my team, Amazons. I was devastated, the life I knew as an athlete was over....Life had actually started!

I worked hard every single day. From rehab and diet to seeing a sports psychologist to stay focused on myself and my goals. I couldn't walk, so I tossed the footy. Once I could walk and jog, I start the motions on how to kick. Once I was approved the kick, I did as much as I allowed to do. My strength, my diet, my state of mind changed and finally I was the athlete I was and maybe even better than before!

If you reached this far, thank you for reading my story. There are a lot more details to it. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thank you :)
