EMERGENCY HOME REPAIR NEEDED

EMERGENCY HOME REPAIR NEEDED—$40K

Rose Gergely has dedicated her life to rescuing, re-homing, and providing sanctuary to thousands of needy animals for 30 years.

Today, her health and her children’s health is failing due to mold infestation from a badly leaking roof, and the house has major structural damage from the water infiltration.  Urgent repairs are needed to prevent further damage to the house.

Her commitment and dedication to this calling obligates her – and her family - to a 7-day work week of heavy chores, from sunrise to sundown, and 24/7/365 On-Call status for emergencies. Their health, the air they breathe, and proper rest are paramount.

The care of the animals depends on Rose and her family. They have devoted their lives to caring for them and all their needs. We need to help her now so she and her family can continue helping the animals our society has thrown away.

Imagine: The sanctuary handles more animal abuse cases than any facility in Canada, receiving many weekly calls for help.  Their calendar includes many outreach projects, educating about proper humane animal care, travel for rescues, farm repairs, and fundraising.  All monies raised have always gone directly to animal care. Rose has never taken a salary, but after decades under this demanding lifestyle, her very home has outlived its useful life.

To continue this heroic effort, the building that houses the care-givers must be rescued at once.  The house is literally falling down around them.  Rose’s daughter is sick - because the house is sick - she has already suffered lung damage from the mold.

Most urgent: replace the leaky roof, trusses, all sheetrock and insulation, and mold abatement including the basement.

Snowball effects brought this about, as challenges increased faster than resources, and unforeseeable demands competed for funds – including Rose’s own finances – for years.  This includes:

-- The needs of hundreds of animals at any given time

-- Demands of providing a home and full-time care for her sick, aging parents

-- Departure of Rose’s husband, former daily contributor

-- DRY WELL. Being without a water source for 3 years cost a fortune.  Numerous attempts to drill a new well incurred serious unexpected cost.  An enormous quantity of water required was trucked in at great expense through very severe seasons.

Emergency rehab MUST be done before winter 2017.  The time is now. The windows cannot be closed because the house must remain open to ventilate the dangerous black mold.  Canadian winter is coming soon; it is already cold at night.  With frequent rain, after a very rainy summer, it is literally raining in the house.

Volunteers will do some of the work, but money is desperately needed for materials, contracting, demolition and disposal, and the repair of electrical and plumbing.

Please help return this vital family to a safe, healthy home so they can provide for the animals safely, in health and peace.  Volunteers are eager to work, all we need money.  Please help this deserving familly.
