What is The Rosenblum Family go fund me page all about? It is about a family that could use OUR help. The Rosenblum family needs a service dog to help their son Jack. A service dog for Jack could mean that the family could breathe a little easier. Dogs that are specially trained to detect seizures in advance are very expensive. I was shocked to see that they can be $20,000-$30,000.
Their son, Jack (21), has profound autism and developed epilepsy at age 16. Jack’s doctors tinkered to find the right medication to treat his epilepsy, but were unable to eliminate his seizures, which always happens between the hours of 3 pm and 9 pm. That remains true today, and it saddens us to say that for their daughter Betsy’s entire adolescence, the evening hours are very stressful. They never know when a seizure might happen.
Paul Rosenblum, most affectionately known as "Mr. R." is a 5th grade teacher at Falmouth Elementary School in Falmouth, Maine. Jack is his son. My name is Michele and my daughter Kat is extremely fortunate to be in his class this year. She adores Mr. R. and looks forward to going to school. From the moment that I met Mr. R. at parent orientation night, I knew he had a passion for teaching. His energy and enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with the kids could easily be seen. I wanted to go back to 5th grade (only if he was my teacher!)
Mr. R. comes to school every day with kindness in his heart and a positive vibe that is contagious for many. His style of teaching and accepting each and every student where they are and for who they are is a gift. A gift that he has been given to so many students and families over the years. He fills kids with confidence in a world where confidence can be taken away by so many influences. He is an example of what many teachers should strive to be.
