My sister Rosita was born with a facial malformation. Over the years, she had to learn to live with this physical defect.
My family never had the financial resources to be able to pay for the different surgeries that she needed.
She is single and for the last 25 years, has been a care taker of our brother who suffers from mental illness.
Her life has been extremely difficult. She has endured many barriers and struggled to find steady employment as a result of her physical appearance.
Because of her strong determination, she started a self-employed role selling retail merchandise including jewelry, food, and clothing.
Recently, on Thursday, November 21, 2019, she suffered an unexpected ruptured brain aneurysm.
She was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Lima, Peru and is presently in a coma. Since then, doctors have performed numerous medical tests and have determined that my sister requires additional surgeries.
Medical costs are mounting and her insurance coverage to help pay for these expenses is insufficient, limited to selective hospitalization and procedural reimbursements. Basic day-to-day medicinal and radiology costs for example, are out-of-pocket and excluded from insurance coverage.
We are looking for donations to help Rosita so that she can obtain the resources needed to pay for the medical treatment required to save her life.
