Ron's dying wish - Italy w Family

HELP MAKE A WISH COME TRUE!
 

This has been a very difficult year for my colleague and friend, Ron Tomei.  This spring he was diagnosed with liver failure and was told he needed a liver transplant.  Before that plan could be achieved he received further news that he had pancreatic cancer and it was not treatable due to his liver failure.  Liver disease and cancer are both terrible conditions that affect lives every day.  I am saddened and shocked by the diagnosis and prognosis that Ron has been given.  Everything has happened quickly and we are not ready to say ‘good bye’ to our friend and colleague.   
 

Ron has worked for AgeCare for several years and has spent the last two years working as the Hospitality Manager at AgeCare Seton.  Even with his diagnosis he remains committed to ensuring that the services provided to the residents of AgeCare Seton is the best that it can be.  He has continued to support his team to excel in service delivery and his kind, gentle, giving manner has been greatly felt and appreciated by everyone who has been touched by him.  Ron has been very committed to his wife and children.  He clearly adores his 13 year old son, the youngest.  We know this diagnosis has been a shock to them and their world has changed so drastically and quickly.  This diagnosis is not fair – how do you adjust to knowing you just have a few months remaining?  Ron should have many more years to spend with his family, creating memories to last a lifetime.  This simply is not to be.  
 

I want to support Ron to have the best ‘end-of-life’ experiences as possible.  His prognosis means that that he has very little time to celebrate events and create memories that will last forever for him and his family.  Ron has always wanted to take his family to Italy – his country of origin.  I would like to ensure that Ron has the funds and opportunity to fulfill this wish with his family before these terrible diseases take his life.  Given Ron’s prognosis, Christmas 2017 would be the target for him to get the most enjoyment from this experience. 


As I think about the positive impact that Ron has on his family, friends, colleagues and seniors at AgeCare Seton, I want the opportunity to give back just a little of the care and compassion that he has so graciously given.  This trip would support a family who is  needs a little brightness at this very sad time.  Let’s help Ron create lasting experiences that will be re-lived for years to come.
