Ronnie's Housing Fund

It started out with a visit to our local laundry mat to help pay for people's laundry... From there it went to feeding 80 people who had been displaced by Hurricane Harvey at the Econo Lodge... There was more food than people, so we took it to the people in Rockport/Fulton. That's where we met Ronnie and his cat Tiger.
His home had been destroyed by Hurricane Harvey... Samaritan's Purse offered to help fix it...but FEMA "put a big X on it and told them not to go near it or they would risk any assistance from them". Well, FEMA never returned or contacted them again...and no housing assistance was offered. His wife went to live with her sister and he was left to live in his truck.
In the aftermath of the hurricane, he fell and scraped his leg. While wading through flood waters, he got a staff infection. We got him to a doctor and that is beginning to heal... What is really needed...is a place for him to lay his head at night. He is currently sleeping in his car. He is on disability...so is on a fixed income. We were able to help him pay of his car...so, the expenses left are phone and insurance.
Affordable housing is nearly non-existant in this area. However, I found a very small apartment for $650 a month with a six month minimum lease. The utilities run about $70 a month... So...what I am trying to do, is get him housing for six months until we can find a better plan for him to be able to support himself.
The needs in our little town are overwhelming, to say the least... And, if it were up to me, I would try to fix each one. But...God has put this man in front of me. He's my "bite" of the proverbial elephant that I've been entrusted to take care of. Many of you have asked me how they can help... Here's your opportunity to change the tide for Ronnie. The weather is changing here...so nights are cold. So, the sooner we can get him in a place out of the elements...the better.
