Ronnie Spoelstra's medical fund

My name is Jackie Johnson, I am Ronnie's little sister. I love my big brother so much and want to do what I can to help him in his time of need. My brother Ronnie Spoelstra is in need of some financial help from his family and friends right now for his medical expenses. This would be hard for my brother to ask, he is a very proud man.  Here is a little bit of information about my big brother, Ronnie. He immigrated to the USA from Holland with our parents and 4 siblings when he was a young teenager in 1952. He has been a member of the Bow community for over 60 years. Where he and his wife Marianne have made there home and raised their 3 daughters, Debbie, Michele and Gina. He worked as a blueberry farmer at Bayview Farms until his retirement. He raised and raced pigeons with the NW racing pigeon club until a month ago, just like our dad. They enjoyed camping at Reed lake with their family. Ronnie could be found every morning having coffee and breakfast with the boys at the Edison Cafe or at the United General health club. In 2016 He applied for his citizenship and became a proud citizen of the USA.  He is a member of the Edison Lutheran Church. He loves his family and 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Last year he was experiencing  pain in his rib area,  He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma,  a cancer of plasma cells. There is no cure, but can be managed with treatment. He underwent surgery to remove  part of two ribs that had cancerous tumors. He has been going through chemotherapy for this last year. About a month ago he was experiencing back pain and was scheduled for a MRI on June 2. He got up to get ready and collapsed. They transferred him to Harbor view where he underwent a intricate surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on his spine.  The tumor fractured his spine that injured his spinal cord that has left him paralyzed from the waist down. He is now at University of Washington where he is in physical therapy to help build up his upper body strength. They are hoping to send him home next week. In order to come home, he is going to need a hospital bed,  a lift, a shower buddy and electric wheelchair. And full time caregivers. Their insurance will not cover most of the equipment that is needed and will not cover caregivers. Also  a possible remodel in the bathroom to accommodate for bathing.  Ronnie and Marianne are just not in a position to deal with the huge medical debt that he has accrued. The focus needs to be on his treatment and to make him comfortable during this time. This has been such a difficult time for everyone involved,  Thank you  for the love and support everyone has shown this far. Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers. Please spread the word and share this to your Facebook or Instagram page. We appreciate this so much.
