Ronda's Resolute Rally

In February 2016, Ronda Rogers was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors told Ronda that a lumpectomy would be the best option since they had caught the cancer early. Surgery revealed a different situation. Not only had the doctor done a full mastectomy on her left side, but the doctor told Ronda that they had taken all of her lymph nodes on her left side as well. There was no mention of a double mastectomy for precautionary sake by the original oncologist.  


On the road to recovery, Ronda chose to be treated by Dr. Coats and Dr. Rubin at Naturopathic Specialists in Scottsdale, AZ. Not only are they renowned doctors in their field, but Ronda was watching the effects of chemo and radiation on her best friend who had recently been diagnosed with cancer and was suffering (and eventually passed away). Ronda depleted her 401K and any savings she had to fight it naturally. Family and friends chipped in as well. Thankfully, November 2016, Ronda was given a clean bill of health.


Ronda is a fighter and to know her is to love her. She is kind, thoughtful, and will be the first to send a text or card to someone who needs it. Ronda has a quick smile and her love of music/DJing skills are renowned. She makes this world a kinder, better place! 


The Costs


After returning from her wedding trip in June 2019, Ronda was diagnosed once again. Not only had the cancer returned to the right breast and lymph nodes, but three lymph nodes from her left arm had been missed and were cancerous as well. She once again sought out Dr. Coats who had been so instrumental in her first battle. Dr. Coats and her doctor in SoCal are working collaboratively in this second battle. 


Friends and family watch Ronda leave at 5:30 am to be at work early so she can leave early for the multiple tests, IVS, MRIs, and CAT scans that accompany this fight. Combating cancer through immunotherapy is expensive. In addition, the two hour commute and fighting the lack of insurance support - despite clear personal results - have left Ronda tired and stressed.  Despite all of this, Ronda carries on!
