Ron Barron Medical Expenses

89-year old jazz drummer Ron Barron spent his life traveling the world and performing with jazz combos and big bands. Until he fell ill in December, 2017, he performed weekly with his Ron Barron & Friends Jazz Sextet at the Lake House Restaurant in Lake Bluff. Prior to that, Ron played frequently in many of the best jazz bands in the Chicago area.
Ron was admitted to the hospital in late December when his chronic cardiopulmonary symptoms brought on a severe attack. He was placed into the intensive care unit at the VA hospital in North Chicago. After exhausting all possible medical interventions, his medical team transferred Ron to hospice care at the end of the month.
The aim of this campaign is to provide assistance for Ron’s wife Lois and daughter Carrie as they are confronted with medical, funeral, and other end of life expenses.
The campaign was initiated by his friends in the Ron Barron and Friends Sextet--Bill Chapin, Frank Gualtieri, Tim Licocci, Mike Maratea, and Chris Wren--along with Suede Stout of Darwin Records.
