I’m Brandon Buchalter, a seventh grader at Hightower Trail Middle School. My Bar Mitzvah is March 9, 2019, and for my Bar Mitzvah Service Project, I am supporting the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses.
What Is a Ronald McDonald House?
A Ronald McDonald House is a place for families to stay if they have a sick child. If a child has to go to the hospital but their family lives far away from one, it can be tough to find an affordable and convenient place to stay. Fortunately, the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses provide a safe, comfortable place for families to stay with easy access to the hospital.
How I Volunteered
Families staying at a Ronald McDonald House need a distraction from the stress in their lives. So, the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses set up activity nights for the kids to provide a fun distraction from the hardship they are experiencing. I hosted two of these by sharing my expertise with Rubik’s Cubes with the kids and their families. I had the kids mix up a Rubik’s Cube so I could solve it in less than 25 seconds, I showed them many other types of cubes and let them play with them, and I gave everyone a standard 3x3 cube to keep and showed them how to make patterns. In addition, I coordinated a Baker’s Club, where we baked treats for the families staying at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses.
Why This GoFundMe Exists
In addition to volunteers, the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses need supplies to operate. I created this GoFundMe to help raise money which I will use to purchase items on their wish list.
· Please donate $5.00 to the fund so that we can help families staying at The Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses.
· The money received from this fund will be spent on the most needed supplies on the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House’s wish list.
Thank you for participating in my Bar Mitzvah Project!
