The heart of the Benner clan is a man that I've been lucky to call my GPA. Recently our family has been struggling with the unsettling reality of his steadfast declining health. Then on the 12th of July while visiting and having dinner together he took a turn for the worst and he was rushed to the emergency room where I got the scary phone call alerting me that he was being put on emergency life-support and to come to the hospital soon. Gpa had had cardiogenic shock, a very rare and usually fatal heart attack. He fought and he fought hard over the next eight days and we couldn't believe his recovery. Then 4 days after his release we went in for a follow-up he had with his cardiologist, and it felt like the room was getting colder and closing in on us. She said the cardiogenic shock had put your kidneys in end stage renal failure, and dialysis isn't an option because the heart is to weak, there's nothing more we can do for you, and I only feel like there are a few days left for you, I'm sorry. Well gpa fought for 19 more days . We made the best of what we could from a devastating situation for each one of those days. Now with heavy hearts were facing the struggle to financially afford the cost of services and celebration of his beautiful life. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
