Ron's War Against Leukemia

Donation protected
I've been approved to receive a stem cell transplant as soon as possible! It's scheduled for October the 4th, 2018 as long as my WBC or White Blood Cell count can stay at a tolerable level. My daughter is a 1/2 match which actually still works... Those who know me, and my family know that the last 6 years have been pretty eventful from day to day, month to month and year to year! I have a very aggresive form of leukemia that's proven to be pretty resistant to the chemotherapy I've been on all of this time. My white cell count fluctuates between 20-230(when a normal white cell count is 6-11) that's pretty painful and makes me fatigued,  and susceptible to strokes, aneurysms, blood clots, which I've had 6 of and heart attacks ....... "But Ron. .... You dont look sick!!!!" "Ron you've been chemo nearly 6 years, but still have hair...?" "You're still a big Dude!" Trust me, you don't want to physically trade places with me. Imagine qualifying for the narcotics hydrocodone, and dilaudid which is 8 times stronger than morphine for the past nearly 6 years! My form of leukemia gives you gout as a side effect. Imagine not taking pain medications unless you're in the hospital under the supervision of medical personnel, so that when you're on the streets. You can help support your family, emotionally, spiritually, physically and financially..... Imagine doing everything that you can internally, mentally to not live up to stereotypes. I'm very grateful for all of the wonderful people we've met locally and internationally who can relate to our circumstances to a certain extent. I'm still a loving, husband, father and God-fearing man. That hasn't changed. I'm still fighting, still surviving, still living for now. I'm thankful for being married to a loving wife, who works her tail off to support our family by working to make sure our kids experience life to the fullest. I don't believe my wife's purchased a new article of clothing since 2013 for her or the kids. And if you pay any attention to me... it's all t-shirts and shorts....lol! Thrifty is our way of life. Why am I asking for help through Group funding? This transplant procedure is not a 1 day procedure.... It's a 4-6 week procedure on the minimum side. 2-6 months is highly probable.  With several months of recovery, coming in my very near future. (When I survive this ordeal). The procedure itself cost $1.6 million! It's 'mostly' covered by insurance, but not completely.  During that time on the transplant floor, my 3 youngest kids will not be permitted to see me in the flesh(because of high risk of infection for myself and the other patients on the floor). We'll be using daycare for my wife to support me in the flesh, overnight for children ages 7, 6 and 5. It's not going to be a easy journey, but so many have successfully proceeded before us, so we are encouraged. If you have it to financially support this effort, balls in your court. If you don't.... I completely understand. Times are hard! Praying in our behalf, would definitely be appreciated! I still believe it can be affective.  If you're atheist or agnostic, no worries! I'll take wishes in our behalf too! Trust and believe, I'm praying forward everyone daily! Thanks from my family to yours..... Yours Truly, Ron A Strickland
