December 2018 Ron was diagnosed with a  brain tumor that required surgery to remove. Over the last 10 months he has been followed at Cornell Weill Hospital in NYC.  In October, 2019 the tumor showed evidence of growing and the insurance company denied the medication that was desperately needed to fight the disease. The insurance company denied as the tumor he has, was a form of lung cancer that is located in his brain. The surgeon was instrumental in getting a trial medicine issued. This medicine is very costly and the trial can be pulled at any time due to funding or not meeting the parameters of the trial itself. Surgery is not an option and the medicine is needed to fight this disease. In addition to not being able to work and all the expenses to run a family expenses can mount quickly especially when you are concentrating on survival.

Ron, Jackie & their son Danny Wieser are residents of Smithtown, Ny and have been affiliated with lacrosse community since 4 years old, first with Team Smithtown and most recently on Team United 2022 with Coach Josh Marksberry.

Ron has been at home fighting this since it has started to grow back, bedridden at times and all this comes at a cost for private nursing at home above the amounts allowed under his health plan minimal limitation. His wife has been taking care of him but needs to continue to work. The money will be used to help with the additional costs of medical care, medicine which can cost upwards of $100,000 for the year. Join us in giving Ron a chance to improve his chances.
