Ron and Yogi Fundraiser

Donation protected
Ron served this community with distinction for 40 years as a member of Victoria Police despite sufferring a near fatal gunshot head wound in 1984. He taught himself to write drive and shoot left handed and returned to operational policing. Ron also served in the Australian Defence Force Army Reserve achieving the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1. Ron suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and was forced to retire from the police force. Since retiring Ron has been prescribed multiple tablets for PTSD until recently becoming the recipient of an assistance dog "YOGI" trained at Bathurst prison by the inmates to assist with the symptoms of PTSD. Since Ron has had Yogi he has been able to stop taking all medication for his PTSD and his life has improved beyond measure.
On Sunday 4th February while taking part in a PTSD fundraising motorbike ride Ron avoided a car that had crossed onto the wrong side of the road on a hairpin bend and collided with a driveway boundary - a tractor tyre dug into the road. He was thrown over the handlebars landing on the tractor tyre on the other side of the driveway.
The costs associated with rent and maintaining the services of Yogi who is not being covered by work cover will cost close to $10,000.00 over the expected 3 to 4 months of recovery time.
