We rescued Romeo back in Feb. 2017. We knew he had been sitting in a shelter with a pelvic injury. Once I got him we saw it had healed, not perfect at all, but it healed.
Now , 6 months later, he has something called MEGA COLON. Many times this is caused by a prior injury, and the pelvic injury is it. Basically his intestine is compromised, there is pressure on it and he cannot pass fecal matter. This is painful and also toxic.
So options: he can get a CT Scan to see the extent of the pelvic injury and MAYBE that can be fixed ( approx $2500 to do is was the quote) . If so then MAYBE the colon will go back to normal. Its alot of Maybes, but he cannot live like this. The "damaged " part of the colon cannot be removed because it will get blocked up again. As long as his pelvis is so crooked and pressing where it should not be he cannot pass anything from his large intestine properly.
He is getting enemas to help relieve pressure and allow fecal matter to pass, but this is just a short term solution.
The CT Scan will cost about $1500.00. That includes bloodwork and anesthesia.
