If you knew Roman...if you KNOW Roman, you know he's one of the kindest, most genuine, sensitive, caring and FUNNEST people you've ever met. Living with Roman, working with Roman, playing with him - was always FUN. If you didn't know better, you'd think a playful Labrador reincarnated as a man, you could imagine Roman's tail wagging just from the sparkle in his eyes.
Last spring Roman was diagnosed with a type of colon cancer, but unlike the kind you get when you're older, he got it as a young man in the prime of his life. Roman fought the cancer bravely and ferociously, but alas he passed January 15th 2020, on a beach with his loved ones surrounding him. He leaves behind his wife Karen and his precious daughter Phia.
Those of us that love Roman would like to honor his memory, and also do anything we can to help his family as they go through this unimaginably sad time. I asked Karen what she thought Roman would want, and she indicated that he spent his has few days in the care of Island Hospice in Maui. Because insurance would not cover the hospice care, Island Hospice cared for Roman and comforted him for no charge. Karen asked that anyone who would like to help, donate to Island Hospice as not only a way to honor Roman, but pay it forward to an incredible organization that comforts people as they deal with the ultimate pain.
