Roland and Rebecca Stedman have just lost their home due to flooding caused by Harvey. They evacuated their home in waist-deep water to get to higher ground. They are currently staying with a kind neighbor and are unable to escape from the area.
Here is an update from Rebecca:
We left the house early this morning at 2:00am, walked thru hip high water to get to our Honda Pilot we parked up the hill a few doors down from our house. Tried to sleep in our car some with Reese and the dog. Had to leave our cats behind. Gabe is good and safe back in Kingwood near my mom & her husband. Roland waded back into the house later this morning to get some water and snacks for us to eat.
A neighbor down the street invited us into their home for a hot breakfast and coffee. They've extended their invitation and we'll be staying the night here with this kind family. Local Fire Dept can't get to us. Only via E-Vac Helicopter and then only to a specified location. We've decided that this is NOT an option for us as Reese hates loud noises and going out this way would add unnecessary stress to him and our situation.
We are thankful that we are still together and all lives are safe. We have lost our entire home and it's contents but, we keep reminding ourselves that it's all temporal and our Faithful Father will provide the provisions needed to rebuild and get our home back.
Most of you know the last two years have been tough for us but they've also been overflowing with much joy and comfort, reassuring us that we were not alone.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP ROLAND AND REBECCA?
They will not be able to return to their home for quite some time and will have immediate out-of-pocket expenses - lodging, food, clothing - everything. We've all been asking what we can do for them and a GoFundMe fundraiser makes the most sense to me. If you would like to help them out, please consider donating here if you are able to. All funds raised will go directly to Roland and Rebecca's bank account to help with their living expenses (lodging, food, clothing, medication, etc.) while they are displaced from their home.
