Who is Rohan Murphy?

If you’re from Long Island you most likely have heard of Rohan Murphy. If you live within the East Islip School District, chances are you know someone who knows him, have seen him at local events, restaurants or shops, or have the pleasure of knowing him personally. If you are one of the lucky many who know him personally, then you know there is nobody with a bigger heart, a larger sense of loyalty, or a better role model for our youth than Rohan Murphy. He grew up in Islip Terrace, attending East Islip schools from kindergarten on and is a 2001 graduate of East Islip High School and nationally recognized motivational speaker. After having both of his legs amputated, Murphy overcame every obstacle in his way and went on to wrestle for the East Islip Redmen and eventually the Penn State Nittany Lions.
He has visited more than 40 states sharing his story and message of perseverance and willpower. He is a true example of overcoming adversity, dedication and living life with a purpose. After all Rohan has done to lift up and inspire our youth, it is time we come together to lend him a helping hand.

What is the TiLite-TRA?

Rohan is in need of a new wheelchair. The Ti-Lite-TRA is a carbon fiber and titanium based wheelchair. This lightweight chair (approximately 20-25 lbs) will allow Murphy to get in and out of his vehicle more easily, while still being durable enough for the day to day active lifestyle he is accustomed to. Independence is vital to Rohan and having a modern chair that allows him to live his life continuing to inspire others and pushing them to be the best version of themselves is pertinent.

As you may or may not know, Rohan’s motto is “No excuses!” So, let’s rise to the occasion and support our hometown hero on the next part of his journey.

Thank you in advance for any contribution.
