Rod's Battle Campaign

Donation protected
Three months ago, Rod had pneumonia, fought and won, or so we thought.  On June 21, Rod was taken to the hospital with what was thought to be dehydration.   Upon being admitted it was apparent there was much more going on.   As the tests began and a specific diagnosis was being searched, the first clue came in after a CT scan.  He had two "masses" on his brain, one in the area of the brain that controls motor function, the other in the area that controls vision.   Rod's first response to his husband, Casey was "Am I going to die?"

As the fight to pin point "what"  continued, Rod began to decline rapidly.   At first his motor skills started failing, having problems with trying to eat using basic utensils.   Next, his speech began to drag, speaking slowly, with trouble annunciating words.   He was moving in slow motion.  Now, he cannot walk unassisted.  What in the world was going on here?  How could this be happening?

The word finally came that he had two ceberal abscesses due to a fungal infection that moved throughout his body after his pneumonia and finally rested in his brain.  The abscesses are pus filled sacs, this infection will cause your brain to swell from the collection of pus and dead cells that forms.    We are now at the point that the doctors tone of hope and promise is becoming more bleak.  The prognosis is not the best it could be, and he will have a long hard road ahead of him.  It is believed the damage that has already occured, could be long term.  He's been out of work, and will likely have to go through a lot of physical, speech and occupational therapy.    This campaign was created to help Rod and Casey with medical expenses and the long road that they have ahead of them both.  Their worlds have been forever changed, their love never waivering, their hope still strong, and their will to survive insurmountable.    Anything will help them in this journey to alleviate the burden of bills.   Please be patient if Casey cannot respond to you quickly.   He's struggling coping with this as well, and we need to support them both.    Thank you for your time, and thank you for your help.   I will post updates regularly to keep all of you informed of his progress
