To friends & family of Rodney Van Ostran,
As some of you may already know, on October 23rd, it was discovered that Rodney aka “Shorty” had suffered from a brain aneurysm. Monday evening, they were able to go in internally and stop the aneurysm from bleeding any longer. He is going to need to be monitored closely in ICU for possibly the next few weeks to make sure there are no significant changes. Due to the brain bleed and a weak heart, he is potentially at risk of stroke or heart attack. While being here he has had little strokes — so they will continue to keep a close eye on this the duration of his ICU stay. This is a high risk situation, which means he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. There is no way to tell how much care after his hospital stay will be needed.
As the owner of Alignment Specialty, Rodney will be unable to keep the shop going while he is recovering and away from home. While he has many friends/family ready & willing to help in any way they can, his shop simply cannot run without him right now and there is no way to tell how long it may take for him to be able to get back to work.
Being self-employed, Rodney does not have medical insurance. While the nursing staff and doctors are taking wonderful care of him, soon the medical costs will start to rack up. Without the shop running, on top of having no medical insurance, this will be a very stressful situation for Rodney and his main priority when he leaves the hospital needs to be to take care of himself and heal. I started this GoFundMe in hopes that maybe we all could make things a little less stressful for him.
Rodney is a hard-working man, a good friend and the best dad a girl could ask for. Thank you to anyone who has called, texted, prayed, sent good juju or whatever you have done! It is much appreciated. I can’t say I am surprised at all of the people who have reached out to ask if anything is needed right now as he has so many close friends and family.
Keep the prayers or well wishes coming, they are much needed!
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Amanda Van Ostran
