Rodney Loud Walker

Rodney "Loud" Walker
10/30/2019 Rodney peacefully made his way to Heaven with all of his children surrounding him. Rodney was a inmate at the Madison County Detention Center, he was arrested on September 30th 2019 for a Probation Violation. About two weeks prior to being arrested Rodney had his appendix removed in emergency surgery. He was soon after taken into custody where he has complications after the surgery. The jail then took him back to the hospital for treatment, upon doing so he was diagnosed with Stomach & Liver cancer. He as well as, the officers with him, were told he needed to be seen by an oncologist right away. He was then taken back to Madison County Detention Center where no type of treatment was provided. Rodney had to be carried from his bed to the phone by other inmates to call family members. He could barely stay on the phone with how weak he was. He didnt eat or drink for a undetermined amount of time. October 21st, 2019.. family gets a phone call that Rodney is in the hospital and is unresponsive.  He was transferred to UK Hospital at that time. The next day family met with the doctors in which they explained that Rodney had a tumor in his liver that ruptured leading to him continuously bleeding. This caused his organs to not work properly and begin to fail. Rodney suffered from multiple organ failure, stage 4 liver and stomach cancer as well. The medical professionals explained that the cancer was not the current issue at that moment it was the tumor rupturing and him loosing to much blood. They explained that had the jail provided medical care for Rodney any time earlier this would not be the outcome of his life. He in fact could have been saved, he could still be here today. We understand that either way he was sick, he could have recieved treatment that would allow him to have more time than what was given. Rodney was a father of four wonderful children, the grandaddy of many grandchildren, a son, a friend, and many more things. Rodney reminded other how important it is to laugh and smile even when you feel like frowning or crying. Rodney would do anything for anyone, he was so out going free spirited and had more jokes than a comedian. He deserved better than what this cruel world provided him. He definitely deserved better than what he got his last few weeks. This is unfair and cruel on so many levels on MCDC's part. Regardless of ANYONES situation they are still human and deserve medical attention when its needed. Rodney was given a inhaler the night before he was found unresponsive and was told to pound on the door if he needed help, even though he was to weak to stand... He wrote letters to his children when he realized that he was not receiving the care he needed and something bad could happen, those letters are no where to be found.. inmates were banging on the cell door for days asking for help but were ignored... family called the jail pleading for help for their loved one, only to be hung up on.. he was reportedly in a isolation cell with other inmates but only one bed was provided, making Rodney potentially having to sleep on the floor..even after the jail put him in this situation they had him shackled to the bed during his last few days with guards around him.. Needless to say this man his free from the horrible things he has been through, free from pain, free from cancer, free from the failing justice system. Please help his family & I raise the money we need to provide him a celebration of life and  peaceful place to rest forever. He deserves this if anything, any amount of donation will help even a dollar. If you cannot donate that is totally understandable as we all fall on hard times. Please share. Every day. Let's gets Rodney's story out there to stop this from happening to anyone elses family.

Thank you .
