Rod Peterson – The man, the myth, the legend…. the mustache. To me, Rod is a teammate, mentor and friend. A man I know I get truth and genuine counsel from. Knowing Rod through work comes with an understanding of the true meaning of a teammate. I can speak for the entire team of his coworkers when I say he’s helped each and every one of us in our time working with him. I’m sure in his personal life, his character is equally as dedicated and altruistic. Now is our turn to be there for Rod.

Rod’s wife, Jeannine has written a brief description of the challenges overcome by Rod and the challenges to come.

“As you know Rod is a very work oriented employee and if I remember correctly, has never taken a sick day off.

When he began feeling “confused” and having eye sight problems, he called me on the morning of June 15th and said he will give it all he’s got to get through his shift Thursday night but didn’t feel he could go on after that. He said he needed to be seen by a doctor asap.

Rod has never been ill enough to be seen by a physician the whole time we have been married. (Over 35 years now).

We immediately got him in to see an Internist who immediately referred us to a Neurologist. His Neurologist was very concerned and sent Rod in for an MRI on Friday the 23rd. As soon as we arrived home, his Neurologist called and told me to get Rod in to the Hospital asap. A quite large tumor was found in his brain and his brain was swelling.

I took Rod to the hospital and he was admitted and had surgery Saturday the 24th.

Rod was known as the Rock Star on the Neurology floor of Intermountain Medical Center because of his quick recovery. He was released from the hospital one day after leaving the ICU – which is unheard of in most cases.

Rod has a long road ahead of him with Radiation and Chemotherapy but he is in such good spirits – he is ready to kick this tumor’s butt!

All of the good wishes and prayers have definitely been felt by Rod.

The support is so greatly appreciated we cannot express enough thanks.”
