Support the Rodanthe Pier

Donation protected
The Rodanthe Pier exists solely for the enjoyment of the fine people that love to visit, vacation and live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, whether they love or live to fish or just enjoy the beach.

******UPDATE: The end of the pier has fallen into the ocean. We all know we cannot predict or change mother nature. The current plan is to fix what is left of the pier, so we can still fish this coming summer. The water is still 20 feet deep at the end of the pier, so the fishing should still be good! However, to get what is left fixed, we are going to need everyone's help! Please help us get the pier back into one piece! *********

As most of you may know, Hurricane Joaquin came through the area last weekend. Luckily Joaquin steered east, but the high winds, tides and mean ocean have left the pier in rough condition.
In the midst of drum season, the owners are unsure as to when they will open back up again as a couple sections of the pier are falling into the ocean. Several pilings were lost causing this to occur. They are also aware that the new parking lot (as of this year) has been washed over and most likely not usable at this point in time.
We would all love for the pier to get back to where it was just a few weeks ago; however, with the amount of time and money that was spent on the pier early this year after the nor'easters, the owners are not sure if they will be able to rebuild at this point. The money to rebuild the pier comes out of the piers revenue and the owners own pockets... and unfortunately, a goal of $50,000 for this campaign is only about half of what will be needed.

As with the nor'easters earlier this year, insurance only covers the pier house itself. Anything that extends into the ocean or under the sand is not covered by insurance.

The owners still have to assess the whole situation and make a decision. I know many of you (including myself) would love to get this pier back together so we can spend more time relaxing and enjoying the seasons over the water in the beautiful town of Rodanthe!

Let's help them do this by donating money to get them started and hopefully to get the pier fixed!

How money transactions work through the gofundme website:

"US-based GoFundMe accounts only accept major credit and debit cards for donations. If any of your donors are concerned about using WePay to make a donation, you can let them know that all transactions initiated through GoFundMe are securely encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. A small security indicator, usually a lock icon or green bar, will appear in the web browser you’re using to verify the security of the transaction. If they would like to donate in other ways, they are more than welcome to donate offline."

*If anyone is interested in donating, but does not feel comfortable doing so through the GoFundMe website, please send me an email through the website with your email address and we can figure something out!*
