Rocky Loring's post trauma bills

This past week, my son Rocky was in Redding California for his annual vacation to Shasta Lake. After working hard at two jobs all year, this is his time to relax and have fun with his close friends and family; however, everyone started to notice that something was very wrong when he passed out in the hallway and had no color to his face. When he awoke he complained of extreme stomach pains and was brought to the nearest hospital to get a CT scan. The doctors discovered a gallon of liquid in his stomach, and assuming that his bladder had ruptured, prepared for a laparoscopic, non-invasive surgery. It wasn’t until the surgery began that the surgeon discovered that he had actually torn his mesenteric artery, and that the liquid filling his abdominal cavity was blood. This quickly became an emergency surgery and if delayed by even an hour, he would have entirely bled out. After 6 days in the hospital, multiple blood transfusion, and a seemingly endless stream of nurses taking vitals and doing lab work, the total costs of this “summer vacation” soared. 


Unfortunately, our insurance would not allow us to keep him on our policy, and since he did not qualify for the Oregon Health Plan, these medical bills are all left to be paid out of pocket. Rocky will not be able to return to either of his jobs for at least 6 weeks and with the stresses of affording everyday bills, an extra 100k is unfathomable.

Rocky has always been the first person to volunteer to help someone. He is a wonderful son and an overall great man, who is easygoing, funny, honest and well loved by all who meet him. While we understand that not everyone is in a place to help, even the smallest donation will go a long way and is greatly appreciated. All funds raised here will go directly towards Rocky’s medical bills.
